We wanted the initial impression when entering the establishment to be a warm inviting traditional rural “go to destination” Restaurant that screamed “good home cooked food”.
For this we mostly used muted earth tones, luxurious soft furnishings, heavy drapes and old oak panelling made from vintage decorative furniture. In the bar area we used a rich red Tartan carpet contrasting the bar, fronted by old reclaimed doors and painted a high gloss British Racing Green.
However the artworks contained within the Baroque gilded frames were far from the 17thcentury pastoral works they seemed to be. It was a delight to see the customers begin to notice the random and sometimes risqué details skilfully embedded within the “paintings' which had all been given an antique cracked and aged treatment. We completed the overall design by composing a subtle countryside mural that included a “pimped up tractor”, metal detectorist and a poacher with a water blaster
